Hi, What are your favorite songs you must play the riff of whenever you pick up your bass and can't help it? For me its King nothing by Metallica and The trooper by Iron maiden. (I wonder how long it will be before my parents get sick of hearing them)
I have a few songs we play that I really enjoy performing because they are fun to play, cool bass parts, and the people get into them. Don't Fear The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult Down On The Corner - Creedence Clearwater Revival Whip It - Devo Please, Please Me - The Beatles
Orion/For Whom the Bell Tolls/My Friend of Misery - 'Tallica Afganastam - Botch Dead Womb/Romantic Rights/Black History Month - Death from Above 1979 Dragonaut - Sleep Nuclear Waste? Bring That $#@&! - CurlUpAndDie I Don't Wanna Hear It/Straightedge - Minor Threat Believer - Uranus The Nightmare Continues - Discharge For the LOLs: Firestorm - Earth Crisis Hot n' Cold (Vocal line) - Katy Perry Working on: NIB - Black Sabbath Roundabout - Yes
New Born - MUSE Hysteria - MUSE Knights of Cydonia - MUSE Discipline - NIN Tommy the Cat - Primus Chameleon - Herbie Hancock Wake Up - RATM Pow! - Larry Graham Glide - Pleasure Classical Thump - Victah Blue Bossa - Kenny Dorham Oleo - Sonny Rollins Watermelon Man (old version) - Herbie Hancock Donna Lee - Charlie Parker A Night in Tunisia - Dizzy Gillespie
Pretty square: "Just My Imagination" If I can get that smooth, I'm getting into my place. "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)" gets my funk on. The opening riff from "Route 66". I learned one version many years ago and another one more recently. They're both about the same--just different keys--but one of the really great walking riffs. Gets me movin' all over the neck.
I'll second War Pigs. I just switched to playing it on fretless and it has really put a new shine on it.
