    The title says it all...
What is your favourite album that has exactly 5 pieces on it.

That can of course include rock, pop, jazz, classical etc...

Beethoven wrote 9 Symphonies...only the 6th had 5 Movements. The remaining? 4 each as was the norm.
It has been 40 years since I took Music Appreciation.
    That's what I remember.

Seems like a rather arbitrary criteria, but what the hell, I'll play:

Tim Berne - Fulton Street Maul

Karajan is my man, too. I have all 9 Beethoven Symphonies in a Karajan box. Something I musta picked up (reasonably) when I belonged to the Columbia House CD Club.

  13. Pat Metheny's Orchestration. The Orchestration Project is Pat performing with a room full of mechanical instruments. Here's a sample . . .

I remember of the 9th that the finale is endlessly long before they get to the famous chorus. I think because of that, the famous chorus is often broken off separately.

  18. I can think of a few.

First, two albums that feature John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme":

Alice Coltrane - Journey in Satchidananda
Alice Coltrane - Journey in Satchidananda - YouTube

Carlos Santana & John McLaughlin - Love Devotion Surrender

    A pretty typical choice..
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

    and one less typical...
    Miles Davis - Agharta

And to wrap it up with a 5th album:
    Pink Floyd - Animals

(Edit: I got beaten to the punch on this one while I was putting my list together!)
