I mentioned in a thread elsewhere I'm not loving my Comfort Strapp so much, and I need to look after my shoulder blades so question to those of you who like to wear your basses fairly high - who else makes really good short padded (or very comfortable) straps?
Mine is high, plus I'm birdlike, so my strap is 37". I finally just made my own hole in that second piece of leather and trimmed the rest off. Couch will make a shorter version if you ask. I asked but then did the mod on mine instead.
It makes my shoulder blades hurt. The padding is nice at first but for some reason after about 20 minutes of playing the strap still cuts into my shoulder blade, doesn’t feel any better than a regular strap.
Just been messing around with my Neotech strap, which is even worse - the plastic thing that connects the wide part to the back of the strap sits perfectly at the spot where it digs right into the shoulder blade. This would be a pretty nice strap if the wide part was a few inches longer, it’s a shame.
Yeah, for the short scale I’m currently spending most of my time playing I like it crazy short, 36” from pin to pin. I know that sounds like it’s sitting on my neck like a noose, but this is a small J style bass with a downsized body, and I use it in a jazz trio where taking solos is a constant requirement, so I need it up pretty high. I’m also short (5’6) so I would generally need a shorter strap than most anyway. Basically my entire setup right now is like a slightly scaled down version of everything, even the amp and cabs (Genz Shuttle 8 combo with the 8” extension cab).
A 37"Comfort Strapp set to 41" I use this one because the padding covers my shoulder blade. The longer versions have that unpadded web buckle part.
My favorite part of the thread is the recommendations for a Comfort Strapp after the guy says he doesn't like them
Not a bad idea, perhaps I’m being a little too fussy here. I think I’m just going to man up and superglue the bass directly to my chest hair, but if that doesn’t work out, I’ll try the barbed wire.
