What was your first bass that was a grade "A" instrument worthy of a hardshell case(instead of a lightly padded gig bag). Or how about that piece of trash that just happened to come with a hardshell thrown in...

A mettalic blue Peavey T-20 I think. Not a bad bass. I don't remember what it cost. My parents bought it.

    My one and only....

The '84 Peavey Foundation I just bought has a nice molded hard case. I think they originally had foam padding, but mine's gone.

Ibanez SR645. I bought it the year it came out for $600. Which was a really bad move because that next year it went down to like $400 or something near that.

I have some Modern Ultralite cases, but I haven't got a hard case right now. I can't seem to decide which bass to build a case for.

I got a hardshell case for my very first bass, a Washburn XB-400. Now I use the same case for my other basses, and the Washburn stays home.

Fender Roscoe Beck. The only bona fide solidbody bass guitar I currently own.

Curiously, I never use the OHSC. It travels in a Levy's gig bag.
  19. back when i started out (early-70s) there was no such thing as a "gig-bag"!

almost EVERY bass came with a hardshell case, except the odd vintage (or really cheap japanese one) that you got a chipboard case with.

my first bass was a japanese hofner 500/1 copy with NO case, but I think the first nice hardshell case showed up on my Rickenbacker Model 3000
