on Talkbass this question might be as important as the first three... mine: Ibanez SRX 700, just a really good bass, have it for a couple of years now. had steve swallow sign the cover of the electronic cavity. this one will stay. Ibanez SR 400 fretless, don't play it much Yesterday: Ibanez SRX 505, again really nice. plan is to convert it to a six string with tight spacing (then there will be a NBD) How about you?
A 2016 Spector Euro 5LX with EMG pickups and preamp. A 2017 Fender Noir Special Edition P bass. I wanted to see what the fuss over Fender is. It isn't, so I'm trying to sell it. I should be picking up a 2015 Spector Euro 5LX LTE Walnut finish with EMG electronics today. It is my White Whale. I've been chasing one of these for 5 years.
'17 Musicman Caprice - a gorgeous bass, sorry to see that Ernie Ball stopped its manufacture Very, very mongrel 'precision' of unknown provenance w/ dual EMG active P pickups, Warmoth P neck - Dunno 'bout this one, I overpaid for the dual P pickups, very much like the neck '17 Epiphone Embassy - very nice for the dough
1) Squier Affinity PJ - quite impressed about the new (2018) Affinity. Upgraded with Seymour Duncan QP and new electronics. 2) Yamaha RBX 375 - just wanted a cheap 5'er with wide string spacing for a couple songs. Nice value, but didn't care for the active EQ, so it's converted to passive. 3) Harley Benton JB-75 - wanted a cheap jazz bass and to see what the Harley Benton fuzz was all about. Sounds good, but I don't really care for the thick neck and can't get the best action, also weighs a ton. Playability-wise I kinda wish I'd went with a Squier instead. On the other hand the Wilkinson pickups are pretty decent, and after upgrading pots and cap it sounds amazing.
I'll bite. 1) 2019 Squier Affinity P/J - Also impressed with the new(er) Affinity, but ended up returning because it was an impulse buy, wasn't really what I wanted, and my main player does similar but better. 2) 2003 Fender Aerodyne Jazz Non-Export - Also an impulse buy because it's a gem. Plays real smooth, has sounds I was looking for and was a steal at a used price. My main player now that replaced... 3) 2014 Gibson SG Special - The plan was to not buy any more basses after this intentional, sought after purchase. "The bass to end all basses" .... we all know how that goes. I kinda miss it sometimes, but then I don't.
Squier 70’s Jazz used from GC Squier Jaguar with the bass boost thing, from shopgoodwill.com Ibanez SR300 from the local pawn for super cheap, resold for a bit more money Schecter Stiletto Studio 4 , good bass to get back into playing after a long time gone.
MTD 534 Fender Parts 5 Sadowsky 424 NYC The first and the third were sort of my retirement final pass at best-for-me 4 and 5 string axes. The second was an experiment, which went quite completely wrong (my stupidity), but then had an equally happy final outcome.
Newest to oldest..... Rickenbacker 4003SW Walnut Breedlove Solo Jumbo Fretless Acoustic Bacchus Craft Japan Series WL5-ALD/M 5 string with Audere preamp
Edit: Oops, I read the question incorrectly & originally listed my first 3 by mistake. Here we go: Fodera Emperor Standard 6 FBass VF6-PJ Fretless in Lake Placid Blue EBMM Bongo HS 6 in PDN Honey Roasted I may need to adjust this list late June/early July, as I'm expecting a Spector NS-6H2 to be completed around that time.
The last two were a pair of Stambaugh fivers, fretted and fretless: Last before that was/is my #1 - a Stambaugh 4 that is a variation on Chris's ODB desisgn.
all awaiting flat wounds or tapes in hopes of dialing in my sound 100% with 0 modern zinginess Tokai Works - very scarce, inexpensive, but a damn nice player, sweet ergonomic design. what's the scoop on Tokai's Works Revolution / TW451? Squier Dimension - good build, HATED the sound, not hating it now, not loving it either. NBD - Squier Deluxe Dimension: mod to perfection phase begins now LTD B-50 - one of the best cheap basses ever made, they can create and survive a nuclear attack. NBD - I'm finally an ESP LTD owner, and thrilled, but is my B-50 body ...PLASTIC?
GL Jazz Cort GB74JH Ibanez TMB300 A Cataldo Explorerbird showed up as well, but I forgot if it was in the last 3 or last 4.
My last 3 basses? Baby Blue Hofner Ignition Club bass, bought from Musicians Friend and returned day after arrival. Didn't like the look for feel of it, just felt "cheaply" constructed, not impressed, not for me. Would have loved to have played one in person before ordering but wasn't possible. Allen Woody Rumblekat, great bass, but with left shoulder issues it just proved uncomfortably heavy for me. I traded it in to GC for the last of my "last 3 basses".... Gretsch Electromatic G2220- lightweight, well balanced, nice tone
