Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by Jace The Bass, Oct 14, 2004.

  1. Heres something to think about say no more than 6 members what or who would you have in your dream band
    Here is my picks
    Drums Dave Weckyl
    Bass Marcus Miller
    Guitar Wes Montgomery
    Keys Mozart
    Sax Charlie Parker
    Singer Alicia Keys

Wouldnt that be a strange mix

I've had a REALLY bad hankering for this combo recently:

    Pat Metheny
    Stanley Clarke
    Bill Bruford

From smooth jazz to furious progrock to nutso all electronic shifty disco - I think it would be great!

Entirely possible lineup as well - if unlikely. Then again, Belew Claypool and Carey seems pretty unlikely as well!
  3. band 1, improv funk rock

bass - me and vail johnson
    guitar - john frucisante
    drums - steve smith
    keys - bernie worrel
    vocals/rap - erykah badu and/or meshell ndegeochello

    band 2, prog/instrumental rock
    bass - me :D
guitars - steve vai, joe satriani
    drums - brain

then for an improntu bass day jam
    stu hamm
    vail johnson
    les claypool
    stanley banks
    bernard edwards

    drums - chad smith
    guitar - nile rodgers

now THAT would be a funk jam and a half

    How about:
    John Bonham on drums
    Phil Lynott on bass
    Jimi Hendrix on guitar
    Bon Scott on vocals
That would be a great lineup, and I'm sure they're all rockin in hell right now...

My band might be a bit weird.

    Guitar: Zakk Wylde
    Guitar: Tom Morello
    Vocals: Layne Staley
Backing vocals: Amy Lee, Mark Lanegan, Melissa Auf Der Maur
    Bass: Robert Trujillo
    Backing strings: Apocalyptica
    Sitar: Ravi Shankar
    Drums: Brant Bjork

What would it sound like? Symphonic metal with a massive rythm section (Bjork and Trujillo can throw down), intricate vocal harmonies, and lots of weird noise (courtesy Mr. Morello and Mr. Shankar).

    A bit too much, perhaps?
  8. Guitar: Alex Lifeson
    Guitar: Trey Anastasio
    Bass: Victor Wooten
    Trumpet: Miles Davis
    Sax: John Coltrane
    Keys: Chick Corea
    Drums: Neil Peart
    Vocals: Col. Bruce Hampton

Zappa could sit in from time to time.
  9. That's a tough one...

John Lennon on vocals and guitar,

    Eric Clapton on Guitar,

    Keith Richards on Bass,

    Mitch Mitchell on Drums...

    Yeah, that'll work!

  10. vox/guitar/composer/arranger - zappa

    guitar - burrell

    stick - levin

    bass - holland

    keys - herbie

    tenor - cotrane

    alto - bird

    bass clarinet - dolphy

    trumpet - miles

    drums - elvin

    cowbell - me

    OK let's see:

    Vox: Emily Haines (Metric)
    Guitar: The Edge (U2)
    Bass: Paul Simonon (The Clash)
and/or Peter Hook (Joy Divison/New Order)
    Drums: ?uestlove (The Roots)

I think that would make for a fairly versatile and unique band.

Alright, another Tom Morello vote. I almost included Stone Gossard, too. ;)

  17. why would you have Amy Lee as back up vocals? ... I think she has one of the best modern voices ever... and it isn't crappy either, shes in key and pure too...

I agree. Her voice is amazing. That was not meant as a statement about the quality of her voice, it just happened to be my whim.

I find her voice good on cd but I've seen clips of her life and I was downright flabergasted!
