Am I the only one playing out on the Thanksgiving Eve? Come-on people!!! Obviously, this is going out to US TB'ers. Tonight has got to be one of the best nights to play out all year!!! Every bar will be jammy-packed!!!
Thanksgiving day eve is indeed the biggest night of the year for playing to crowded bars. Unfortunately my band aint playing cause our idiot guitarist is leaving town with his new girlfriend. Are all guitarists this stupid? Damn!
Look here: http://www.2020tech.com/thanks/ The reason it is a great day to play out is because it is often the first chance for college kids to come home from the first semster. It's pretty much a tradition as we get older to go out and run into people from back home. Plus, there are usually High School football rivalries that take place on Thanksgiving day, so often there are bonfire parties the night before.
Thanks for the info. However you got me on Boxing day. I always thought it was an extra day to recover from my Mum's Christmas dinner. I did find from here http://www.infoplease.com/spot/boxingday1.html that the origins are fudged anyway but the site does have a couple of theories. Working on the St Stephen theory, the carol Good King Wenceslas contains lyrics concerning the rich the poor and the feast of St Stephen. Thanks I learnt something as well.
I'm playing tonight. I just hope that the bar doesn't get filled up with drunken redneck hunters. *whispers a prayer to God*
No gig for me.Im putting together a new band(the old one fizzled after 6 1/2 years ) and we arent ready to gig yet.
how can you ALL rule the world when it is predestined that I am going to be the only one? Worship my bongo playing image!
