YouTube slap/pop/thump instructional vids

Discussion in 'Technique [BG]' started by swartzfeger, Apr 20, 2009.

  1. Hi all, I really want to start adding this technique into my arsenal, and there are lots of cool vids that give a general idea of what's involved. It seems like every video I've watched are of a fixed camera shots, however.

Anyone know of any vids with closeups of either/both hands, or vids with multiple angles? Thanks!

    Chicago, that toddling town

Two guys started this: Louis Johnson with the Brothers Johnson and Larry Graham with Sly and the Family Stone and Graham Central Station.

Try youtubing them and *gasp* buy and album from each. Emulating them by ear is going to do more for your thumb than anything else!

Remember- all of the "classic" cats had to learn things by ear. Ever wonder why we ain't had a big "bass pioneer" in a minute? Because those guys used their ears, not their eyes.

    What the hey.
