Yawnsie closed my thread entitled: "Speaker buffs: more help please" in the amps forum. AND QUITE RIGHT TOO Rarely have I been so embarassed. I would not respond in this way were it not for the fact that this is a public forum and a member of the public has been harranged on TB. I hope the Moderators will understand that. The attack on Tom James of Eminence by one member was well out of order, IMHO. To print those things about him on a public forum was a disgrace. Mr James went out of his way to help me with technical details pertaining to his Company's product. There is nothing he did to warrant those personal insults. He should not have to endure that sort of thing. To the member in question, I am genuinely pleased you took the trouble to help with my post. BUT I DON'T WANT YOU RUBBISHING ANYONE WHO TAKES THAT SAME TROUBLE. I've had a great time on TB since I joined and have met some great folks. But this has soured my palate a great deal. From a sad and upset Rockin John
Well, just so that there's no doubt about my intentions: I FULLY SUPPORT YAWNSIE. IN CLOSING THE THREAD HE WAS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. My gripe is with the members whos' slagging match left the Moderator with no alternative but to close the thread. My original post was an honest attempt to further my knowledge on matters bass, not to stir up this sort of thing. John
It's really sad that the person who was burned most in the flames wasn't there to reply. It's easy to shoot someone in the back. Regardless of who was right and who was wrong, it was generally disrespectful manner - something I wouldn't have expected coming from the person in question, but I guess he had to prove himself to know better than everyone else.
Hi Oysterman. Yes. Correct. But I think it goes further than that. What if Mr James at Eminence gets to hear of what was said about him on TB? And he might because one member knows him. It'll bring the best bass forum on the WWW (IMHO)into disrepute. I'll probably be the last time Mr James helps anyone in the way he helped me, with the result that bass players everywhere will be worse off. Those comments could have damaged TB for a long time. John
