Me and my friend from Australia are discussing avocados and such. I ask him if he likes guacamole, he says yes, and they are good on kababs... I say that they are also good on chips....

    He says....

    "I've never tried that."

    im like...

    "omg n00b! stfu!"

    He is like

    "Serious."

"I'm like... just get yourself some tortilla chips, and some guacamole, and dine away."

    He says...

    "Tortilla chips?"

At that point, I knew all was lost for humanity.

OMFG.....you have friends????? (all is lost for humanity)

FWIW - we call "tortilla chips" corns chips in Australia. Im not exactly sure why, but if you had said corn chips and guacamole then he probably would have understood you.

BTW we also call our "fries" chips, so you either get hot chips (fries) or chips (like lays etc).

Your friend is just uninformed...nachos are a dish made from corn (tortilla) chips.

We eat corn chips with salsa, guacamole or as part of nachos. Tortilla is used here to describe a type of flat bread used to make burritos etc.

Just don't mention football, and you should be ok. Trying to explain American football to an Aussie is like pushing a horse into a Snapple bottle.

I think a lot of us understand the rules of American Football, we just don't understand it.

Even then.... he should be able to make the connection that tortilla chip= tortilla pieces that are fried to make chips.
