Ziricote is my second favorite top wood (after buckeye burl), but I rarely see basses with ziricote tops around here. When it has sapwood in it, it has a really awesome look to it.

If anyone has any pics of zircote-topped basses, post 'em here.

Here are my current six-string and my old fretless four-string Elricks that have ziricote tops:

Here's a Divinity Oracle (Benavente) with a ziricote top and knobs and pickup covers:

And here's a Warwick I've found with one. No sapwood, but it still looks very nice:

  2. I had a Taylor acoustic for a short time with Ziricote sides and back. Awesome looking grain.

Not the greatest picture, but here's an Alembic with a ziricote top:

Here is a Roscoe Century Signature 6 with a ziricote top and fretboard. Pictures are from the Blueberry Hill Bass website.

I think that all of the darker brown woods like ziricote, cocobolo, walnut, etc., look better under a gloss top. It helps bring out the normally subtle differences between the browns and the blacks.

yeah, I love the Q tuner in there too. The whole look of that bass fits together well IMO.
