Ziricote is my second favorite top wood (after buckeye burl), but I rarely see basses with ziricote tops around here. When it has sapwood in it, it has a really awesome look to it. If anyone has any pics of zircote-topped basses, post 'em here. Here are my current six-string and my old fretless four-string Elricks that have ziricote tops: Here's a Divinity Oracle (Benavente) with a ziricote top and knobs and pickup covers: {} And here's a Warwick I've found with one. No sapwood, but it still looks very nice:
Here is a Roscoe Century Signature 6 with a ziricote top and fretboard. Pictures are from the Blueberry Hill Bass website.
I think that all of the darker brown woods like ziricote, cocobolo, walnut, etc., look better under a gloss top. It helps bring out the normally subtle differences between the browns and the blacks.
