1) I got sick of always hauling 2 large-ish things around to get the fullness off "Oomph-ness" out of my rig. Cartage/logistics has been an issue, now closer to "solved"...
2) I eventually felt they were sort of overkill for me, and I needed the bread. It's great to have "the best", but sometimes "enough" is what you need.
So I scored this little booger to replace them. I've had one before; it's a deep-sounding cab with a satisfying 'punch' that's not very heavy, and looks tidy on a stage. This little low-end Hartke thing has done very well for me in any context. I clipped the busted tweeter out of the way and painted it black, and put the corpse back in its old spot. Tweetie Apocalypse...
It's the low-budget Club-Killer:
Hmm. Think I'll start a new thread.

Those VX series 215's are actually real good cabs pretty compact and decent tone. Owned one once for about 6 months.

In fact I almost went for a Goliath-II, but this was taller and easier to cart, sounded real nice, and I have a thing for 15s...

I tried the 2 115 Neo Fender cabs and the Super Bassman, which at first I though that was what you had, until I took a 2nd look and saw the Aguilar cabs. Anyway my Super Bassman, and cabs were defective so I returned them. Super Bassman was out of stock, but now back in stock. Did and exchange on the cabs, but they were to light weight and keep on rattling, so send them back and just purchase a Aguilar DB115 in Classic Black to match the Bassman. These cabs are more expense, but are much better cabs.
Anyway.....NICE RIG......
Thanks
Jerry

Got a 2x15 and I dig it. Looking for something though to do at small lower volume gigs.
Would a 1x15 by itself sound good without PA support in smaller to mediumish gigs where the 2x15 is too large?

If your drummer's a basher possibly a single 15 "without" PA support won't cut it.
I can get by with my Genz Benz Contour 300 Watts single 15 combo doing rock n blues 3 piece without PA but the drummer (my brother) has excellent dynamics and the guitarist has a 40 watt single 12 and knows how to get a great tone without knocking the doors down. We've played together for many many years and can really push it without having to destroy everybody's eardrums.
If your situation is similar I don't see a problem with using just a single 15.

Here's my new baby. It's running the Faital Pro 15PR400's. I have about 6 rehearsals on this now, and the honeymoon continues! I think I am going to get a tat that says, "15's For Life!"
I begged Mark to build me a second one. He refused saying that I am not qualified to have that kind of power, and besides, it's illegal in 7 states.
Rock on oh bass brothers & sisters of massive air movement! | '15" for life' I like that too. Perhaps a T-shirt .....

| | Fan of the New Orleans Saints | | | | Thanks for the replies. This would mainly be used in smaller church set ups if I got a single 15. The drummers are typically not allowed to go crazy in church.
It's get a 1x15 or a 2x10. 10's typically don't cut it for me unless there's 6-8 of them.
Here's what I'm working with right now. LDS 2x15 with Eminence 3015's:

I don't know if you've ever played through one before but my previous cabinet was a Hartke HyDrive HX115 It's got a nice big tone and it's pretty easy to move around. Solidly built too. Might take a look at one of those if you get a chance.

| | Registered User | | | | I still want to build a neo 215 that's light enough to schlep to gigs, but this stack is an all-time favorite:
Bag End S15B-B loaded with an Eminence 3015LF, topped with a
vintage Bag End single 15 (unported) loaded with the original EVM
Great range and a strong touch of the old EV/JBL high mids and low treble range. Just too damned heavy to bring anywhere. |

I have a hook on one more at the moment, which I am hoping to pair with the one I have. Eventually Id like 4....cause....why not? 100 tube watts of beauty through 4 evm15l's would be bitchin |
