This past Sunday the WL turned around in between the 2nd and 3rd song and told me to turn the bass down. Anyway he got me sidetracked and I started playing Happy Day in the wrong key. The pianist thought it was her so she stopped playing after she thought she had her transposer in the wrong spot. Funny thing was her daughter who was singing the song stopped us and said "Mom I can't hear what you are playing". Then I realized I had started playing in the key of A instead of the key of G. I couldn't help but get tickled over it. I apologized afterwards that she got called out and it was my fault.

The question is do your worship leaders have the freedom that Tye Tribett has?

  4. Do you have a link? I can't seem to find any videos with that title that either don't have any sort of bass solo or aren't acoustic covers.

Got a question about music arrangement notes.

We usually use praisecharts for music. Above the start of a section is usually an instrumentation suggestion like 1x pno only (1st time piano only) 2x add eg (2nd time add electric guitar) etc...

What does diamond mean, hold the note/chord for the entire measure/section?

    hi folks
I am a believer who has one foot in the world and one in the kingdom for 25 years.
musically speaking, nothing I have ever done has ever amounted to anything although I am skilled in music and a solid bassist.
I feel God is impressing me to go to a certain church and commit. I don't have much to go on but I am going to be obedient.
I suspect in time, he may be able to use my talents once again if I am willing. I did P + W for years back in the early 90's and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I really believe he doesn't want me to succeed secularly-I am only talking about my own situation. I really think that he is a jealous God when it comes to those things.
my problem is that my hands are badly damaged from CTS and tendonitis-I cannot even work never mind play bass.
keep me in your prayers folks-I need to muster up the faith to lean on His promises of being the great physician.
it would be a fabulous testimony to be healed by his grace-I believe the whole key is to be obedient and seek the Kingdom first.
    thx for listening.

Does the Zoom B3 have a patch to make fingers sound like a pick?

  9. Yep.

Not to sound snide at all, but why not just play with a pick?

Just coming back...it's amazing how The Lord act in our lives, I'm shocked and at the same time with such a joy in my heart...

Great welcome from the team to my wife and me tonight. My wife is a singer, and they just had a position opened for a singer because one of them had to leave the church due to work related obligations, so she arrived just in time.

Then It was really funny, because the WL, who is the lead singer, is playing drums because the drummer is playing bass.. All this in order to fill all the spots (WL doesn't play bass, just percussion) but they were praying for a drummer or bassist so the WL can concentrate in singing and leading the service. Funny thing is I'm a drummer and also play bass, so I can fill any of those spots in a team. At the end the WL will sing and help with percussion, the drummer is back to his drums and I'm going to be in the bass. Couldn't be happier, and amazed of how things just happen in the way The Lord wants.

At the end of the practice we were chatting, and to know us a bit more, they ask me how long I've been playing bass and drums, and I told my story: learned to play drums at 8, rock band at 14, then moved from drums to bass at 16 to fill a spot in my band, and then traveled to the USA to study Sound Engeneering, my first carrer... Then suddenly the whole team turned to me and started laughing, praising and giving thanks to The Lord...

They had been a long time praying for a sound guy.... So now I'm the bassist AND THE SOUND GUY...

That's a great idea, I need to educate the sound guy now we have a regular bass player. I think my bass sounds the same way from the front but it sounds great in my IEMs. Plus my Ibanez has flatwounds so need to get an main output sound that suits most song styles, but I do use a pick when I need bite.

It does have a "fast pick" setting (sounds like your picking more than you are). Haven't tried it with fingers to see how it sounds.

With some tweaking, I'm sure you could get a half-way decent pick-like sound using fingers. I'm not the greatest tweaker (yet!) when it comes to experimenting on the B3. Post your question in the "Zoom b3 patch Ideas" thread. Someone there may have developed one and can have a better answer for you.

Yes, you've got it. A diamond is a whole note... from Nashville notation.

I am not that good with a pick. I have been practicing with one but I am still not happy with my consistency yet.

Our WL finally decided he wanted to try This is Amazing Grace by Phil Wickam. I practiced it with a pick a couple of months back and stopped when he decided not to do the song.

Jmcorn, listen to Jeremy Riddles/Bethel live version of This is Amazing Grace. Thats the version my group does and the congregation loves it every time. It also happens to be my Daughters, who is our drummers favorite song to play. She gets to rock out on it lol.

Actually I have heard this version. I do not like it as much but it will probably be a better fit at our church.

  18. Just keep practicing with it. Building up your technique will be much more beneficial to you in the long run than relying on a patch on a multi-effects unit, especially if you're in a situation where you can't use it. Don't just quit practicing because you're not doing that song anymore.

I'm starting to switch from G&L ASAT to M2500. I'm really wondering if anyone has experienced a downside of moving from 4 to 5 in a worship environment.
