2019 Overwater Phil Mann Signature Series Fretless
J5 Custom 5-String Bass

This beautiful fretless bass was custom designed and handmade in the UK by Overwater Basses. It is literally the only one of its kind. It is a custom designed fretless bass, based on London bassist and Scott's Bass Lessons instructor, Phil Mann's 34" scale/24-fret fretted bass design. The deep pocket neck joint gives all the sustain and tonal response of a neck-through bass.

This one-of-a-kind custom bass also includes Hipshot Ultralite tuners, Hipshot A-Style Brass bridge (chrome) and a John East J-Retro flat-response preamp custom designed for Overwater Basses -- the J Retro's sweepable mid gives this bass, quite literally, THE BEST fretless tone I have ever heard. It's spectacular.

With shipping and hardshell case, this bass retails for well over $5400 and takes approximately 16-20 weeks to build.

Most notably is how well balanced this bass is. I won't own a bass over 10lb. This one's 9lb 12oz and I can play for hours with no fatigue.

Note: There's a small scratch/discoloration in the lacquer by the rear through-body string access on the back of the bass (D-string).

Thanks! I picked out everything on it. As pretty as it is, my favorite thing about it is the ability to dial in some amazing fretless tones with the parametric mid-sweep. It sounds as beautiful as it looks.

You're welcome, I'm very happy to complement you on your choice of bass and yeah I bet that bass sounds as beautiful as it looks. If I could afford a custom Jazz bass it would definitely be an Overwater!
