This birthday will be bittersweet, and every one hereafter. My mom passed two years ago, and her birthday was yesterday. My sister passed about a year ago, and her birthday is tomorrow. Yes, the same as mine. We're twins.
Bitter sweet. Yes. My son Alex's will be here in around 2 weeks. The second one he has missed. They're tough milestones.
Set tomorrow. I'm on this week, then off the next for our daughter's graduation! Bringing the Fender P5 with TIs, and the MXR octave pedal for Overcome. It will be a test for sure. I don't think there's any long notes in there, which is the achilles heel of that setup. Actually, I'm coming to terms with my Octavbre, now that I realized that the pedal adds a decent amount of gain. I was under the impression that it like the Boss OC-2, where unity gain is at 100% on the dial. Unity on the 3-Leaf is more like 50%. I think Man Of Sorrows and Good Good Father work great with flatwounds. Made Alive is normally a roundwound song for me. That will also be a fun challenge to get enough snap out of the strings. For some reason right now I'm really drawn to the Fender so I'm seeing if I can make it work in situations I would have sidelined it for a 4 or a roundwound bass. Bought one of these a while back so I could change basses quickly. Haven't tried it out yet. https://www.amazon.com/Radial-BigSh...pID=51zm-QE76BL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
I bought the Radial Tonebone Bassbone preamp for the ability to switch basses and have an active pre for my passive basses. I’ve used it a few times and have been very pleased with it.
I saw some online news blurbs about a royal wedding but it means nothing to me so i didnt bother to dig deeper. isn't she one of the Kardashian's?
I watch very little television. I don't even have cable....we use an antenna and get TV for free. The woman looked like one of the Kardashian sisters to me. Never heard of the show you mention, or Ms Markle (just found her name this morning)
Well I've never watched the show either, but I am aware of its existence...and I only know she's in the show because of the surrounding hoopla. I'm not sure I could name anything else she's in.
For years, just so I wouldn't worry about string changes my P/J was loaded with flats and tuned down a full step. We were very eclectic going from quartet to urban gospel to afro beat. I still pull it out when the worship leader gives a setlist from his rend collective type preferred style. Most weeks over the past 2 years I am playing my 5 with rounds. The truth is onstage I can't make out tone differences no matter what I do with the knobs, finger position or strings. So I just play try to use the proper technique for the genre and feel and depend upon the sound guy to do something with, or do nothing with the signal I send to him
That is all I play, or have played for the last 8 years, except for one P-J with Black Nylon Tapes. And I used mostly flats for a long time before that. Attack, eq, compression, finger position all allow me to get the sounds I find most useful. I've even (rarely) pulled out a pick when absolutely necessary!
