Acquired Precision. Should I refinish or leave it?

Whatever you do,DON'T leave it bare.
It will accumulate dirt,gunk and grime.
No matter what they all say:A funky,grimy bass doesn't actually"bring the Funk"
Just a bad staph infection.

I think the bass looks really cool as is. I would leave it alone and play the heck out of it.

Hi everyone, I would like to get some opinions on whether to leave this bass as is or do some kind of simple (if any exist) refinish stain such as Tru Oil. The subject is a Squier Vintage Modified Precision, I assembled from parts sold to me from an inexperienced person from Craigslist for $60. The body and neck alone and stripped of any hardware were handed to me apart and in a box. The body was perfectly ugly as it was spray painted red with a rattle can. I added all the hardware and electronics from spares I had lying around, including a Seymour Duncan SPB-1 pickup. I stripped the body with chemicals and sandpaper, (I think the body is maple). I set it up to perfection, restrung it and it plays and sounds beautiful. (I have 6 other P-basses by the way).
It really does not look bad as raw wood, but gets grimy and dirty quickly, now matter what I do to prevent it from getting dirty.
1. Should I just leave it?
2. If I were to stain or seal it, what process would you recommend?

I am hoping to learn about a simple and sure way to implement staining or sealing. I don't mind spending up to 10 hours to accomplish this. I would like to learn from the experiences of those that have been through a similar process. Thanks to all! It is ash IMO and you did a good job I’d just apply a clear nitro coat over a nitro sealer ... you can find them in cans ...

I'd seal it with something to protect it, but it looks nice.
