Aux and IR Cab level are good moves, and the rest of the features check a lot of boxes. Like everything but the name.
Uh oh..........where did my wife hide my wallet. Edit: Sweetwater will have in my greedy little hands by Thursday!
Judging by the USB input to load stuff in, this pedal seems to be digital; but I'm not completely sure? Analog / digital hybrid, maybe - like Hyper Luminal? Let's see how soon someone will post a comparison video against Tech 21 VTDI or Origin BassRig.
This thing is loaded with features. I sure as hell didn't expect Ampeg to release something like this.
Ordered...this seems to be everything I wanted the SCR-DI to be! I had actually moved away from my pedalboard using the Ampeg sims in the HX Stomp to a rack mount Ampeg SVP-CL preamp, but I may go back to the pedal board after this arrives. This through the Khan DI will be quite the nice pedalboard rig!
I liked the SCR DI with the exception of it was the only preamp that I have ever had a clipping issue with. Both active and passive. People told me to turn the volume down on my bass but you shouldn't have to do that to get around it. The -15db pad also (to my ears) really dulls down the tone of the unit. Hopefully this won't be an issue with this new SGT unit. I like the looks and the available features. Will have to listen to some demos later.
Cool unit. I love Ampeg stuff. I like my SCR-DI, I don't love it. This looks cool. Price is a little steep for me.
Ampeg's product description says the cab sim is digital and can be bypassed. I wouldn't be surprised if the rest is analog but I don't know.
I'm in a similar spot as you. I have a VTBass DI and think it does a very good job, probably better overall than the SDR-DI. I really like the idea of an Ampeg-branded B15/SVT pedal, but at $150 more than the VTBass DI, I probably will stick with that. Maybe on a MF Stupid Deal of the Day in a few months...
Been using the SCR DI as a practice amp and the Tech 21 BBDI as my travel preamp for gigs where i don't have my rig. This has me debating selling the SCR DI now and replacing it. Decisions decisions.
