The first 45 seconds of You Really Got Me is some of the most absolutely incompetent bass playing I've ever heard by ANYONE in an established band...let alone a high school band...let alone VAN F'N HALEN.

I've NEVER heard that many out of key notes and out of time passages in such a short time frame.

...and it just doesn't stop! Just endless out of time and completely OUT OF TUNE playing for what seems like eternity.

    WOW.

Anyone who says that Michael Anthony is not missed after listening to this has got to be deaf...

    Wow. Again.

Pretty bad considering this is a band that's world famous. I mean he didn't even notice he was out of key for a pretty long time.

I'll give him a nod because the kid does have some chops and can definitely play, but he also makes a lot of stupid mistakes on gigs.

Bad bass notes is one thing but without those backups that Michael Anthony did... I don't have any interest.

Could be tighter and a small % of off notes in the grooveline. Honestly though his raw, sort of wild style, (chip off the old block) is actually pretty cool in a live context. If I were still a VH fan I'd like him a lot. Certainly doesn't seem to bother the customers.

  8. Oh my goodness. That's horrid.

All I can say is that if that was me, I'd have been fired for that.

along with pretty much everyone else. I haven't seen much live of them since Anthony, and that video makes me happy about it.

+1 If I played that song that bad in my crappy cover band at a live gig I wouldn't wait to be fired, I would quit.

From stadiums to a 10 x 5 stage? Second, what is it with David's outfit? He looks more like he showed up to do odd jobs or something. I guess at least it looks like Eddie is sober. I saw him at a lawyers office years ago and he was so wasted he could barely stand up during the elevator ride.

That's rock n roll. It's supposed to be raw.

raw doesn't have to suck. I agree rock should be raw. that wasn't raw.

  15. Eddie has proven that love is more than blind, it is deaf.

kinda reminds me of a mediocre Van Halen Tribute band :)

DLR apparently can't hit the notes anymore either.

He just wasn't there in that song,
    especially when he was supposed
to be holding in down by himself.

    He just wasn't there.

    Bad night,

  18. You can see him tune his bass later in the song. Guess the thing was out of tune, badly...

    That's funny

I was thinking the same thing.

What others have posted is true......They're a mediocre VH tribute band at best.

Sammy's probably glad his fingerprints aren't on this trainwreck anymore.
