Hi guys. I would like to know if is necessary to make some modification on my Fender JB to install a EMG J set. Thanks for your help.

  2. No modifications required - they should be a drop-in.

That's true for the pickups, but what about the battery? Is there room in that tiny jazz compartment for a 9v?

It depends on what year the bass was made and where it was made. Mexican Jazzes from before 2001 will need a little bit of sanding or routing to fit replacement pickups (esp. the bridge position).

    Thanks for your colaboration.
I have a Fender Jazz Bass American Standart 2001 4 string.
I think the only place to put the battery is below the bridge pickup, but, in that case, I need to remove the pickguard every time to change the battery.
    :(

I've got two 9 volt batteries in my MIM Jazz - they both fit (barely) under the metal control plate.
