Hi. Let me share with you some pics of Andres Rotmistrovsky signature bass. Andres ask us for a very special bass, hollow-body with acustic and mag sound. And that's part of the process. Specs: - Royal Spanish cedar body - Sitka spruce top - hollow-body style - Neck: 2 hard ash and 1 hard maple with wenge runners/ set in style - Ebony fretboard with flamed maple block inlays - Ebony wooden bridge and tail-piece with RMC piezo system - Passive electronics - Lorita custom split coil pickups
Wow again, I love that semi hollow routing. But please explain... 1. Why these routings? 2. Why these pillars/supports?
Hi Potomac. the routings n.1 are for guide the strings ( the space for the end ball of each string ) . You will see better when I put on the tail piece. And the n.2 routings they are simple reinforcements because the sitka top is just about 4mm thickness. If you have more questions just let me know. Cheers.
I am really enjoying your work Xavier. Your basses aren't the style I usually play or build, I very much appreciate the very high quality of your craftsmanship.
Thanks so much Hopkins. I had a great teacher for a long time. As he told me one day: you must be creative on the things you do. So I try to build basses with my own character, my own style, and of course trying to do the best I can. There's a lot of work hours on that pictures, seaching for perfection if it's possible. Thanks again for your kind words Hopkins.
Hi Jonny5bass. a light bass I think is a mix of more things, not all is about woods. In this bass this mix are the hollow-body style and of course the woods ( will no be the same with mahogany and flamed maple for ex. ). But my endorser, Andres, ask me for a light bass and at the same time ask for more acustic sound, so that's the reason to use spanish cedar and sitka spruce for the top. You can save some weight with that kind of woods ( classic tonewoods ) but the most important thing is the sound that these woods brings to you. cheers!!
more pics of building proces. Here we have the front anb back recess already made and wooden cavity plate. hope you like it.
HI Potomac.Yes it is. a decorative walnut veneer for accent the top from the body. But isn't a laminated top. This is solid Sitka but with a veneer ( the same process when you build a solid body bass ).
