    This started life as a Surf Pearl but I sent it on a trip back to the '60's.

    Very nice, sunburst and tort is always the way to go when you have no other way of going.

    I am very happy with the outcome. I was concerned about the quality of the wood under a solid paint job but this alder shows some nice grain and character.

    Nice! If that combination was a standard offering from Fender, then I would certainly go out and buy one today.

    That was my feeling initially but jumped on the Adorama $399. sale back then and that helped make the refinishing more economical/justifiable (at least to me) ;).
