NOTICE: this thread is not about the mythic curse haning around these basses. Hey, I recently came into posession of a 1987 red rickenbacker and was wondering of the rarity/worth of one of these are, any ideas?
Red ran from 85-95. Black trim was a popular option on these basses. Not crazy rare, but any discontinued finish on a Rickenbacker tends to command a bit of a premium.
I used to own an early nineties one. It was a very nice bass. Sold her on ebay for a bit over a grand some 5 years ago. For some reason rickenbackers only fetch good money if they are new, or hollowbody, or from the sixties, or a darkstar/tux/redneck. Otherwise they always sell for a bit over a grand. Dont think regular production colors will ever be worth more. Red loks kille though!
I've been good ... I still play Rics ... I just don't have as many as I used to have. I still have one Red Ric. Seriously modified.
