SOLD Rickenbacker 4003 Candy Apple Purple

    Update: now for sale. $2300 shipped. CONUS only for now, sorry about being rigid.

    For trade is a 2020 Rick 4003 in Candy Apple Purple purchased from Fab Gear. It’s in excellent condition other than a few minor finish flaws which I’ll try to picture. The most noticeable is a small dent on the side by the output jack. Weight is about 9.5lbs. All original and case Candy is included.

    Not really in a rush to move this so looking for more specific trades

    For basses
    early Rick 4001v63 reissues
    Fender Fullerton reissues (jazz or P, colors +)
    Fender custom shop basses (50s and 60s stuff)
    Rick basses rare colors/ COY

    For guitars
    Rick 660
    Gibson firebird/ nom reverse

    Absolutely stunning color!

    Is the binding separating on the upper horn and on the lower corner edge, or is it just the paint separating/splitting from the binding/body joint?

    Both of the finish flaws were on the bass when it arrived but they seem stable and haven’t changed. On the upper horn the paint isn’t flush with the checkerboard binding but it’s under the clear coat and not moving. On the binding near the strap lock there is a line of pin sized dimples in the paint but the binding is fully attached and In good shape.

    Thank you for the pictures. It is a stunning color.

    Is the paint that is bubbling up by the pickup surround stable? If the surround was removed, would the paint lift?

    Are there any bubbles in the finish around the tailpiece? Any lifting paint?

    There is a small bubble (looks like the paint got pinched) near the pickup surround and a very slight bubble along the top of the bridge. These were also there when it showed up. Not sure if they’ll change over time or not but so far they haven’t grown. I’ve been watching them, cause if they started to spread I was gonna send it back under the finish warranty but held off cause they seemed to stop.

    That is SO cool! I have a brand new Am Pro II Jazzmaster in Miami Blue I’d throw toward a trade. Not quite the AVRI I know but purchased brand new a month ago.
