I was too young for the Dick Van Dyke show (started before I was born), but I saw many episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore show, as well as some of her later work. She was great, and a wonderful spokesperson for Type 1 diabetes treatment and awareness as well. RIP.
Not a big shock, since I knew she hadn't been well, yet still caught me by surprise. The Dick Van Dyke show and the MTM Show figure big in my pop culture life...I just loved her. In fact, I've been revisiting the Dick Van Dyke Show the past few weeks, watching a couple episodes a night. Sort of makes her passing a little more poignant---that's how I'll always picture her, young, funny, and beautiful.
Among the last from the generation where entertainers were expected to have multiple talents - sing, dance, act, etc. Also did a lot to open doors for female entertainers. She will be missed.
ME TV is having a few of the key MTM shows on from 14:00 - 17:00 EST today Schedule I had no idea that Henry Winkler was on MTM's show Henry Winkler remembers first big break with Mary Tyler Moore - CNN Video
