Price drop to $100. This bass was made into a fretless by someone who filed down the frets (I think). It’s an amateur job, but not awful. I tried to get pictures of the worst spots. Because of this defretting, I find the action to be a bit high. The truss rod works, but it probably needs a shim or maybe some nut filing if you want low action. It's low enough for "mwah" right now. They also did a partway job of sanding the (I think) awesome candy pink/magenta finish on half of the body and some of the neck. There are side dots in the normal fretted positions and faint lines where the frets were. The bridge is weird with height adjustment screws, but it works. The passive controls have a bit of scratchiness, but I can hit it with deoxit before selling. The good news: it sounds great with the Bartolini pickups installed. I put some SR2000s on it, but flats sound great too. It’s also light. 19mm bridge spacing. Basically, it’s a bass you won’t worry about but it will get the job done. It wasn’t my best impulse purchase, mostly due to a the fact that I’m used to another side dot setup. Play as is or throw some stickers on it. I’m in the Bay Area of Northern California. If you’re not local, I can ship if the buyer pays for it. Trade interests include a fretted bass like this, a cheap six string, an acoustic bass, a pedal, or something else interesting, even if not music related. I could trade up a bit too. Really, just ask. PS: I know the tuners look weird that way, but they function properly this way (all on each side tighten by turning in the same direction) and looked off the normal way...you’ll just have to believe me, or get this bass and prove me wrong.
I'm not exactly sure what's going on with the frets/lines. They are very very slightly grooved below the board, so maybe I'm wrong about the filing. It sounds good as a fretless though. I just lowered the rear pickup slightly and it's still a punchy rock kind of fretless with rounds installed.
Still available for offers. I adjusted a few things so it's playing better now. I haven't been bumping this because I didn't want to deal with shipping before Christmas.
Bump after a long time and a major price drop to $100 plus shipping if not local. I took off the neck to shim it, and when I bolted it back on, I made another finish crack on the front of the neck, indicating that the bolt pushed through the finish in front. I took the neck off again, to make sure it wasn’t cracked, and it seems ok...but that’s annoying, isn’t it. I screwed it too tight or the bolts are a little too long. So now, there are two dings on the front of the neck and we can guess where the previous one came from. Again, the truss rod works and neck seems ok. It now plays better with the shim at least. It will come with a beat up soft case that’s nothing to get excited about but will do the job. New pictures:
