Were the Sandblasted series of Fender Basses a GC exclsuive? I want a P just because. I did get this LE MIM P a few weeks ago for $475. I played a few MIM Fenders and the quality has gotten incredibly good and the weight on this one is under 8.5 lbs. Here is mine at the amplifier test station (SVT not in view).
Good Question I have one...a red P-Bass Limited Sandblasted. It's based on an American Special series. I bought it used so I have no idea. 2014 model year
The 2014 sandblasted series was available for all dealers. I bought mine from Wilcutts in Kentucky. My Honeyburst Precision though, that was a GC exclusive, so I'm a member!
Sure did, hipshot tuners, gotoh bridge, and eBay everything else: pickguard, straplocks, control plate, screws, string tree and neck plate.
You guys are lucky I've been looking for one on Reverb for ages. What a unique and narley finish. Let me know if they ever need a new home.

Here are some other GC specials from memory. Hopefully I can dig around and find photos later. - Fender Hot Rod Jazz Bass - White nitro finish with rosewood board and painted headstock; - Fender American Elite Jazz Bass - Surf Pearl maple board and painted headstock; - Music Man Stingray Classic - Black and maple with passive option; - Music Man Stingray Classic - Candy Apple Red with figured Roasted Maple Neck; - Music Man Stingray 5 - Pace Car Blue (they may have had a 4-string version, not sure); - Music Man Stingray 5 - India Ivory with painted headstock - Music Man Big Al 5 - Some type of purple with a rosewood board; - Gibson Flying V - Cherry shorts scale; - Epiphone Jack Casady - Blue Royale - Epiphone Woody Allen - Blue Royale They made a bunch of Music Man Stingray Classics in different colors but I'm not sure if they were exclusive or not. I believe the El Dorado Gold ones with matching headstocks, Raspberry Sorbet and Mint Green ones were but my memory is foggy on them.
Thanks so much! The thing with some of these manufacturers is that some have specific model numbers that differentiate it and some others just use the same name as some of their other 'normal' offerings and all you can go by is a certain color or finish or neck or combination which really can make compiling a list really tough. It would also be good to know what year the models were made available this way. Might just have to go banging on other club 'doors' to find out more info.
It is going to be extremely difficult putting a comprehensive list together. There are a bunch of exclusives that weren't advertised or at least not advertised as exclusives or limited editions. Most of the ones I know of were just special colors and it has been years since I stepped into a GC. Having one just down the street from work made it easy to browse while waiting for rush hour traffic to go through.
Woud it be bad if I replaced the tort PG with a mint PG? It's coming up on be kind to turtles day ya know...
i searched, sorry if it was mentioned but wasn't there an ebony fretboard stingray guitar center exclusive?
It’s very likely. I remember going the the GC in Plymouth Meeting, PA sometime around 2010 to find about a dozen Stingray Classics in various color and fretboard combinations that weren’t even listed on EBMM’s website. We were easily there three plus hours and I distinctly remember how different they sounded. Now that you piqued my memory, it was at about the time the Stingray Classics were released. They also had a couple hybrids having features of both the standard and classic models. I remember them having a trans teal or blue that had the regular neck but was 2-band with a string-through bridge big no mutes. They also had a bright red one with classic beck but 3-band EQ and standard bridge. EDIT: GC had a 45th anniversary model Stingray 5 HH in black cherry burst with an ebony board and oval inlay. I traded a few guitars for it and my buddy took home a hybrid Stingray in mint green with a standard neck but classic body and bridge.
Thanks to B-Mac and MattSasquatch (and my beautiful wife) I am part of the unofficial Made for GC Dean Bass club. How do I get Official Status? Here is my Zone II
