This one made TalkBass front page recently. Don't all run over each other to get your hands on this "Vintage" Jazz Bass...
I'm the first one to say "it's your bass, do with it as you will" whether it's paint, pups, or other mods. But DAMN that is just ugly, someone should be slapped.
Too bad it's wrong-handed for me; otherwise, it would already be MINE! No, not really... Seriously, though; there's got to be some kind of Fugly award that it could win - hands down...
I paid $550 for an old P-Bass neck with tuners. So far it looks like a good deal to me... new body should not be too hard to find.
That poor thing; the neck, hardware, and electronics look in good shape though. A new body would be an easy fix.
Yard sale, eh? I wouldn't be too surprised if someone in the 80s took some of the harder drugs available at the time and decided to turn in a wood shop class project based on the Mandelbrot set... using dad's Fender he wasn't playing anymore. Poor thing looks like it's had limbs amputated or dunked in nuclear waste. But hey, nice neck aside from some apparent knife gouges, and those tuners look really sweet.
Neck is probably worth that alone. If the pups are original you could probably buy it and make some money.
