I was in Boston when the bass arrived. My wife missed the first delivery but was able to sign for it on the second attempt. I got home Thursday didn't really get a chance to check it out until Friday. First off, we were really lucky you decided to put it in a hard shell case. There was a puncture in the box that hit the case but did not reach the bass. I've shipped over 30 basses via UPS, that's the first time I ever saw that happen. No harm, no foul.

The bass's condition was as described except for two nicks on the back of the neck, one behind the 2nd fret and one around the 12th. I used a steam iron and damp cloth to raise them up and then different sandpaper from 320 to 800 grit to flush them out. I don't care about nicks in the body but I have this "thing" about the neck. If my thumb feels something. It bugs the heck out of me. Honestly, if I would have known about them, I would have passed on the bass. Luckily after the work, though you can still see them a little, I cannot feel them anymore.

That was the bad stuff, but in spite of that, I'm very happy with the deal. I removed the strings and cleaned up the FB with some Thompson's wood soap. I dressed the frets and cleaned up the nut. I polished the front of the body and the headstock. I then did a setup with Rotosound Swing 66 Nickels. You were right, I am very surprised how good those Peavy pups sound. The neck radius and long scale feels fantastic. The bass is light and well balanced. Going between my Dingwall and the Peavy feels very natural. For $500 shipped and a usable hard shell case, I firmly believe I got an excellent deal!
