I drove 26 hrs to get my daughter her first good bass. Mostly because of a conversation that I had with Jamey about his philosophies on instrument sales and repair. He has a wonderful selection, including some great high end basses that are very reasonably priced. If you are in the market for a great working bass that you intend to fall in love with and keep for a long time I highly recommend him. His patient and generous personality are a great indication of his work on the instruments. Go check this guy out!

estringjamey is a working musician in the Kansas City area. He is also a luthier who worked previously for KC Strings, a highly-regarded viol shop. Jamey has a house full of violins, violas, cellos, and basses. I had occasion to visit his house/shop and took a bass on approval - not a trivial thing, as I live 240 miles away in St. Louis. I ended up bringing the bass back and Jamey was very cool with it. Good guy!

I've been to Jamey's home where he has several basses, excellent instruments that have be well-repaired.

He's done several repairs on my bass. He was friendly, fast, affordable, good, professional and went out of his way to help with issues beyond what I brought the instrument in for.

Definitely recommend.
