I bought the bass in good faith, based on the representations made by this seller. When it arrived, it became quickly evident that the bass was heavily misrepresented.

Before the bass was shipped, I had planned on changing out tuners and electronics. On arrival, the bass had multiple undisclosed structural problems. I contacted the seller and attempted to negotiate a partial refund to cover the cost of repairs, because I liked the woods and thought the problems could be repaired albeit, not with insignificant cost.

The seller refused partial settlement, but offered a full refund indicating he had another buyer for the bass. I felt uncomfortable in exposing another unsuspecting buyer to a possible misrepresentation and, by this time, the communication from the seller indicated to me that nothing else could be worked out between us.

I chose to walk away from the negativity of this circumstance and do a full restoration of the bass, which ended up being extensive, at my own expense.

The result of the restoration is a good outcome. The transaction insofar as it applies to this seller was totally unsatisfactory. The biggest issue for me is the extent of the misrepresentation and the seller's expression of a willingness to sell the bass elsewhere rather than share the responsibility of the necessary repairs.

In the end, I restored the bass beyond the needed repairs, because I wanted to do a complete restoration, but the fact remains the seller refused to fully acknowledge misrepresentation and accept responsibility for his role and the cost associated with the necessary repairs.

Buyers beware.

I made an honest mistake while posting my ad and I acknowledged it as soon as it came up. It was my fault and I owned it and to make this buyer whole, I offered this buyer 100% of his money back, PLUS a box AND a return label on my own FedEx account, PLUS $100 EXTRA, just to return all the PIECES of my bass which he had admittedly taken completely apart, even after he had raised questions about some fret wear and neck alignment that I missed in my pics. He insisted that he be allowed to keep my bass but wanted a 50% discount for his trouble.
I told him I would rather keep my bass and kept trying to make him whole since the deal wasn't everything he expected. He refused to be satisfied with being made financially whole plus an extra $100; his satisfaction required his keeping my bass in exchange for a few hundred bucks.
I would have left this alone except I found out today that he went in four months after his attempted post-sale negotiations flopped and left a very misleading negative feedback for me. This was a terrible experience for me but it was something I simply chalked up as unfortunate. That said, having my character trashed via a false feedback is too much to abide.
I have pages of correspondence with this buyer that back up everything I've said here. He seems a very decent guy but he definitely turned into an illogical thug when I refused to let him keep my Warrior Isabella for $700.
This was my first attempt at a TB commercial transaction after 11 years of membership and it was a disaster. I have 20+ flawless transactions on Reverb, some for much higher ticket items, and many more on eBay. Koog's long history on this site is likely to paint me in a very unfortunate light as a here on TB and there's nothing I can do to combat that apart from sharing the real facts.

In further response to Koog's ever-expanding misrepresentation, that he was actuallyplaying the martyr and protecting some hapless victim from my sinister plans, I did not attempt to unwind his deal to sell the bass somewhere else. I reached out to the previous owner of the bass on Koog's behalf, in an attempt to research some of the issues Koog said he discovered after receiving the bass. The "other buyer" he portrays here was actually that previous owner. Koog was well-informed of that detail at the time of the discussion. I conveyed to Koog that the previous owner had nothing but appreciation for the bass himself and, being in a different financial situation than when he sold it to me, had asked to buy it back. He stated that throughout his ownership he had not personally known of any of the dubious repairs that Koog's luthier reportedly found evidence of. I plainly shared this with Koog as a means to convey that I believed the previous owner's sincerity, not as an incentive for him to keep it.
I am not trying to smear this buyer; only defending myself against some categorically inaccurate narrative and I will happily share the records of our communications with anyone interested in reading the true events for themselves.
