Actually I think I'm wrong about it being a switch. I'm pretty sure it's terminating the connections to different sockets. Circled in red in the attached photo.

I'll see if I can find the info about that again. It's been a few years.

(message three)I first heard crackling when the active EQ was engaged. I thought, ok no problem, its the battery. I switched it to passive. And still heard it. I cannot isolate it, I am not sure if it is in the preamp, battery compartment, or the jack. I will run a full check with another cable, but I played a three hour two set gig with that cable on Saturday and had no issue.

The pot is not only sticking, which is something concentrics do, but it's absolutely loose and rattling around. When I get home I will photograph the indentation and paint marks from the bottom of the bass -- right next to that broken pot.

As it is, I cannot use the bass and cannot sell it, and I'm out $290 on top of that.

I truly do not have time or the resources to take the bass in for repair, and as it is, with the drop that I'd certainly have to disclose in any sale, I've experienced a big loss on this trade. We don't even know what soldering was done in the electronics.

I've lost a bass that I take on every gig with me and traded for a pig in a poke.

The way I see it, the basses need to be sent back to where they came from and I should be refunded shipping for both and my $150. I paid $20 extra for insurance and $20 extra penalty for the trapezoidal box, which was my decision and I'm fine with not including that.

That will be about $350.

(message four)I understand the offer you are making to pay for the repairs, but my life is such that I do not have time for repairing your bass. This should have been done before selling or trading the bass, or declared honestly before making a deal.

I would hope that you do the right thing and return my bass to me, and restore my $150 "value difference" that you asked for, as well as the shipping I have spent in this unfortunate deal.

I'm disappointed to see my friendly, conciliatory way with folks used against me, as in your response above. If your mod was working and the bass was in giggable or salable condition, I'd have accepted this. That is not the case.

I was able to find a discount in shipping the bass back to you, at $76.00. I spent about $140 shipping my bass to you. But I won't hold you responsible for my own busy-ness and need to ship at a premium, so I will only ask for you to cover my shipping each way at that reduced cost -- so, $75 times 2 plus the $150 I sent to you for the now clearly incorrect "value difference" -- total:

$300.

This does leave me out about $70, and is entirely fair. And I'd like my bass returned to me atsnip)

My position has been clear and has not changed.

I sent you a working bass without issues. I will not take responsibility for damage outside of my control without the opportunity to recoup my costs. I offered to handle the repairs for said damage even though I wasn't responsible. You refused the offer.

You're busy? So am I. I offered to handle all of the communications with the repair shop so that all you had to do was drop it off. You refused. Your lack of time is irrelevant and isn't my financial burden.

The EHB1005SMS is your bass. You sealed that when you took it upon yourself to subject it to possible additional shipping damage.
