I'm selling my recently acquired Trans Blue F Bass BN-6. This bass was custom ordered by Chris Loe and has been dubbed "Superbass" by Chris and Donovan at fretspot.com.

I've lusted after this bass since I saw the first video Donovan posted on it. However seeing the bass in person is a whole different story.

The blue is actually a bit darker, almost a purple hue indoors, but very deep blue in direct sunlight. The fretboard actually has a much deeper birdseye figuring that I could make out in the first photos I saw of the bass, and the dark spot ~ the 17th fret actually blends in with the rest of the fretboard much better because of it. I was unsure if I liked the dark spot or not when I purchased the bass, but after seeing it first hand there is no way I'd change anything about it - it fits perfectly.

Playability is out of this world. I didn't think that I could get lower action than I had on my MTD 635/24 with absolutely no fret buzz, but I have been proven wrong. I can honestly say that this bass is the most effortless playing 6 string I've ever encountered.

So how does it sound? Extremely versatile. My favorite fingerstyle tone comes from having the tone knob on full, bass up about halfway, treble about 1/3 of the way up, and the neck pickup slightly hotter than the bridge. I can get an extremely punchy tone out of this and still retain a ton of clarity. By backing the mid control down just a bit, you can get a killer slap tone. The string to string balance is something I would expect from a multi-scale instrument, but somehow George achieves the same thing with a 34.5" scale.

So after saying all this why would I be listing this bass in the classifieds? Because no matter how many times I try to play a 6, I've come to realize that I am just way more comfortable on a 5 string. I don't play a lot of solos or chords, and the P&W team I am on plays mostly rootsy rock style songs. We've got a pretty large group with 2-3 guitars, an organ, a keyboard, and sometimes a sax or trumpet, and honestly there's not a lot of sonic space for me to use the high 'C'.

I've taken some pictures that I think really show the beauty of this bass off. It is definitely a work of art.

Beautiful F Bass.

Unfortunately, I don't have cash, so I can't make an offer, which is a shame, because I'm looking for a 6. Trades at all?

I've received numerous trade offers and replied to the legitimate ones :) I am looking for an outright sale on this bass as I need to free up funds to purchase another bass I have my eye on.

I am not able to ship overseas due to high shipping and customs costs.

Couple few questions-

what's it weigh?
18 or 9v?
where is the input jack- on the bottom like Sadowsky, or out the backside like an MTD?
how many frets?
case details?
any scratches?
body wood?

thank you

One of the most beautiful I've ever owned - if it was a 5 I would never let it go.

Bump - I've had several interested parties contact me and I doubt this will be available much longer.

I've got a BN5 in that trans blue/black grain, and I can attest that's it's a really beautiful finish.

Monday bump - I'm growing more attached to this bass the longer I keep it. I played at church Sunday morning, and spent a lot of time on the low B. It's one of the most musical and tightest sounding low B's I've had the pleasure of playing. The overall string to string balance is incredible and I honestly don't know how George does it.
