Barefaced Bass 'Compact' + GK MB500: Tone Samples

You may or may not find this useful (some say youtube vids are relatively useless to ascertain tone) but I stumbled across an old-ish youtube vid I made demo-ing my gkmb500 and Barefaced Compact (sold quite awhile back).

The video is not well done, and neither is my playing but I dig the tone.

For such a small, portable cab the Compact does not lack lows like others in its class size. You are not going to get huge, wide lows out of it, but its quite even sounding to my ears. It also has alot of high-mid grind, but as you can hear in the clip, its easily dialed out. Great cab. The gkmb500 is really nice sounding too.

Torin, what cab and amp are you now using ? Why did you sell the Barefaced cab ?
I'm like you wanting a light easy to carry cab which I think I've found. I just got 2 Acme Flatwounds that sound great in my room with my Streamliner but have yet to try them on a gig (next month).

I bought his Compact and power with a GKMB800 and I can't get over how awesome it is. It's got just the perfect amount of high end for me and is louder than I'll ever need. I put the head in the front pocket of my gig bag, the Compact in my right hand and my pedalboard in my left...couldn't be happier.

I am now using a fEARful 15/6. I bought a fibreglass unit from Art of Noise Audio and I am currently building one myself out of Italian Poplar with a goal weight of 45LBS. So far it looks I'll achieve that goal or get close. The 15/6 is so amazing that it has killed any GAS for other cabs. I have been using one (in one form or another) for over two years now. A 15/6 vastly outperforms a 410 and gets close to a 610... amazing given its size and portability.

Since acquiring the 15/6 I also got a good deal on Passinwind's old 12/6... to make the set, so to speak. Having the 12/6 kinda makes the Compact redundant. However, the 12/6 I have is built out of super heavy ply and weighs around 60LBS, far heavier than the Compact's 27.4

Ultimately, to use the Compact on all my gigs I would have wanted/needed two, and they cost too much to ship from England for me to justify two.

As for the amp, I'm using my gkmb500, but want the mb800 for a bit more power at 8 ohms.
