Carvin BX500: Pt. 3

Chef, the mute on my earlier model is also not quite muted. I discovered that one day by muting and pulling the cable - generated a pop so loud that I was sure I'd done something bad to my cab. Luckily nothing happened but I now use the power switch as the mute on this head.
Fwiw, I have the newest version head and after testing it out to make sure, the mute switch completely silences everything. No pops when pulling cables, no hiss... completely silent. The pattern is emerging (at least on TB)... sounds like the noisy mute is an issue with earlier heads?
I'm pretty sure mine is new. Just got it 2 weeks ago, and it had that factory smell.

To reiterate my last question...
I got to try tb'er Vic's 500 at the STL GTG, and noticed that the mute didn't completely mute. Anyone getting this (that hasn't already responded)?
Is this another early run fluke that's been hashed out by now?

I have not witnessed that issue with mine (and it is one of the older heads). But, I have never pulled the cable out of the amp while it was on.
I admit to not pushing the envelope on this either (no heavy thrashing), but I have not heard my bass with the mute on, and all of my current basses are active basses.
Chef-yes I do. It is kind of overkill since with the URB the amp never goes past 2. It works great but of course kicking it back right at the upright can lead to feedback on those deep notes. I like it upright best for the upright. 
Just got my second new one today. This one works!!!! And it sounds surprisingly good. I have heard better but it is definitely not a clunker by any means. But to be fair I have not plugged in one of my better basses yet either. The fact that it even powers up is a step forward. And no noise at all with the mute on.
