I was really hoping the Epifani Piccolo 600 was going to essentially sound the way this one does but I've yet to see one in action....

Anybody else feel the Streamliner has eliminated your need for the warm round P bass? Honestly, I never pick it up anymore... My Bongo HHp 5 & Sterling HH are so warm in the upper mids now its fantastic.

Got my Streamliner 900 this evening from the good gents at Bass Emporium. Wrote a quick review over on another thread: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/best-cab-s-gb-streamliner-900-a-787309/index2.html

Overall, very pleased. Basically agree with the other folks so far: Round, fat, vintage-y. I found the lows pretty deep as well, and ended up rolling a good bit off. But I'm coming from an SWR Bass 750, so this is a whole new world!

Adding my Sadowsky preamp/DI gave it some transparency and a slight lift.

Thats all its about, if you expect to make this a hi-fi amp like the SWR 750, Shuttlemax, Little Mark you'll be disappointed. Its near impossible to EQ out the warmth in some areas which is why those people have been putting them up on the classifieds.

I never thought my Sterling HH could EVER be warm in the upper registers but the Streamliner made it happen. Now if I want hi-fi Sterling\Bongo tones, I gotta grab another amp for slap sizzle grind clarity etc.

No 1 amp can do EVERYTHING extremely well, I'd rather have 2 amps that can do what they do vs 1 amp that does everything half ass. A P bass will never be a J bass & a J bass will never be a P bass. Same with tube vs solid state amps.

Hopefully this saves some future discussion, misconceptions & regrets

I know, I know....its Tunaman. I Keed, I keed.

But to that, actually, the 900 makes me wanna use my P5 w/flats even more. Now, I did use a JoBo 5 with Neox 212T and the 900 head at this past weekends' gig. But that was just to see how I liked it, I liked it OK. That band does some funk-stuff. But man with my blues/soul band(s), with no slappin/popping, just straight, bluesy-soul finger playing; the 900+P5+TB153 is the stuff for me. Notes are just fat-n-plush.

Now, I also posted in that other thread that I'm still experimenting using 900 head with different cabs n basses. So other good things are happening with that head. But so far the 900+P5+TB153 is my absolute go to rig for most my gigs. Just diggin heck out of that setup.

You P bass guys! This amp makes EVERYTHING round & warm! I was considering trading a P bass for a Big Al to have a little grit when I want.
It is blissful though the P & the Streamliner, just don't want to be lost in the mix, wheres your tone knob? I usually have mine 80-90% towards the warmer side

In the spirit of your post, here is a clip I did of the Streamliner, a 70's style J with stainless steel roundwounds, and the very evenly voiced Audiokinesis Thunderchild 112. The Streamliner is set 'flat' except for a boost at around 2 o'clock of the upper mids (2.5K or whatever), since this cab is designed to have no upper mid hump at all.

Listen to the B string through that little bitty cab. The Streamliner really opens it up and makes it sing. It might be a bit too 'smooth and clean' for some, but it is IMO a beautiful tone!

Edit: Regarding your PBass tone knob question, I like a bright, articulate P Bass tone. I use a Nordstrand VP5 with Carey's amazing P pickup. Setting of the tone knob is very dependent on the instrument, etc., but I run it mostly at the 50% level with this bass and amp. I have a few clips up of the VP5/Streamliner/AE410 that will give you an idea of the 'nickel roundwound' P Tone that I like.

Back to the subject of light and loud.

For me the Streamliner 900 as well as the Shuttle 900 have broken the sound barrier. With one Berg HT112ER and either of these amps I can get as low and loud as two with any of the 500 watt Micro's I've used.

Translation - smaller and lighter = more fun and less Ton.

Kirk - what venue is that? Interesting upstage lighting rig... what are the large rectangular grille/vent looking things? Looks like sheet metal acoustic reflectors but never seen any like that before. Doesn't look lighting or video oriented.

Its an outdoor gig in Morzine France. Right in the heart of the French Alps. really incredible clean air there... I have a few Stage shots from sound check i will put below looking out..

The Grill things are expansible LED screens... Photo Below.... Graphics , Images, Video can all be shown on them...
They can move apart and become like puzzle pieces or all come together to make one large screen if the operator wishes.. Pretty cool stuff!
Then the other Vari-Light motorized lights are all strung up there too..

Here below,the LED screens are all separate.. But someone must have a photo where they all come togtehr to make one big screen. I have to ask my friends.

I know there was a lot of talk about having the SL for tube like tone and another SS amp for more modern stuff, but I find that I can just use my Tone Hammer running into the effects return (making the SL a power amp), and I can get a nice SS tone with plenty of mids.

I can't afford a second amp right now, so this set up give me lots of flexibility. I love it!
