I am a 210 vertical stack believer!!

Just played an awesome gig with my power trio (classic rock) band last night.

My rig was simply a TC Bh250 head into a Markbass 210 stacked vertically on top of an SWR golight 210.

Let me tell you that TC PUSHED some serious air through this setup.

I felt my bass thwacking my legs and abdomen and a REAL solid response in the lowend. My highs had a nice crunch/ overdrive.

Never even took the TC volume up more than halfway. The best part, my load-in was a breeze as NEITHER of these cabs weighs more than 32 pounds.

I've been doing the two, 210, vertical 410 thing for 5 years now, (two Avatar Neo 210's, now being driven with a Hartke LH1000 head).......

Absolutely LOVE this set-up!

Ive read here on talkbass in the past about guys vertically stacking there 210's, always thought eeeeeehhhhh it cant sound better than my markbass 15 and 210 setup??? Boy was I wrong!! About a week ago I gave it a shot! Lemme tell you boy was a wrong! Lows seem deeper and everything is more defined! And harmonics are so much clearer thanks to being closer to ear level. After two days of playing this way I listed my 15's on CL Really love my orange terror 500 with (2) markbass 102p's

Thanks ahc. I'd like to get both in 8 ohm and an amp with at least 800 or 1000W @4ohms.

I like a very transparent and neutral sound. What do you recommend? I'd like Class D and lightweight.

I read about the Euphonic Audio The Pro and was very interested.

Part of it is that the speakers are nearer your head height so you can hear yourself better but it also has to do with dispersion characteristics.

Here's a description from Bill Fitzmaurice I picked up which may be easier to understand:

Two reasons for vertical stacking -

One, you can hear them better.

Two, the audience can hear them better.

That has to do with two other facts. First, the all important midrange frequencies travel in relatively straight lines. The further the speakers are below your ear level the more difficult it is to hear them. Second, the angles of dispersion are inversely proportional to the width and height of the source. A low wide source has narrow dispersion on the horizontal plane, wide dispersion on the vertical plane, and that's the precise opposite of what's desired. Wide horizontal dispersion, for the benefit of the audience, and narrow vertical dispersion, so as not to waste power serenading spiders on the ceiling and mites on the floor, is what you want, and you get that from a source that is narrow and high.

The vertical 410 gives you better dispersion of your mids across the stage, alittle better projection, and alittle less phase problems over a standard configured 410 cabinet.

You'll also get the advantage of a taller cabinet by getting the top driver up nearer your ears, better mids clarity.

One thing I like about the two, 210 set-up, I can run one 210 cabinet for rehearsals/small gigs, both cabinets when more power handling and coverage is needed.

I've got a pair of the 8 ohm cabs. They sound great. Can be a bit bottom heavy, but less so vertically. Originally stacked them like a 4-10, but I evolved... vertical stacking let's you hear better and provides better dispersion in the room. It's also a much smaller footprint which helps in the small rooms I usually play in. I've never used an EA amp so I can't be much help there. The cabs sound great with all of my heads.

Yes!! I may pickup another TC BH250 just as a backup, the price is right on them. In all honesty I feel like that thing is closer to 300 watts than 250--- power was there when i needed it, and the bottom was better defined than ever.

I think I finally broke my Markbass 210 cabinet in by pushing it a little harder- it all of the sudden sounded sweeter last night. ;-)

I wonder if the phasing was accidentally off. Usually we expect branded series mixed pairs to perform well enough.

My vertical oddball mismatched 10's + 15 works well for me. There is a bump up in clarity biamping them so they can't be all that well matched, but good enough.

OP might like to find a matching pair of one or other to get to the promised land.

Don't get me wrong it sounded good! Maybe phasing issue? But i agree i thought same company cabs wouldnt have that problem. I cant even say there is a phasing problem. Really for me the vert. stack just sounds better!! The one concern or disadvantage of the vert stack would be the possible tumble:bawl: god that would suck!!
