Promethean P3115 sealed or ported?

I received the Promethean P3115 today and after removing it from the box I can see its sealed. Hmmm I normally dont like sealed cabinets so i was a little leary. After a few hours of playing with it...wow it easily gets my tone and is quite strong and punchy. Like always you have to hear it in the mix but so far I am really liking this amp. It favors old school bottom over new school hifi and has a ton of headroom. The "Phat" control really brings in that solid and chunky low end I like. Rehersal tomorrow so we'll see what the mix brings...so far happy.

Because I cant leave anything alone....

P3115 with: Interior walls lined

Eminence 3015 Neo installed

3" port tuned to 48hz

Love the sound of this speaker in this combo. Very transparent, lets each bass speak its voice. Excellent mod.

Hi Rodl2005

The Promethean P3115 came as a sealed cabinet with a 4 ohm light duty (small magnet) speaker. The sound was just "OK" in stock config for me. I removed the stock speaker, tweeter (I never used the tweeter) and installed an Eminence 3015 Neo. In the tweeter opening I installed a 3" port tube that is 2 inches long. This upgrade greatly increased the output and tone.

Not sure about yours but, I just picked one up yesterday and it's ported. Mine is ported in the back were the AC cord is stored. If you look there is 3 little port holes inside of that cut out. Check yours, I don't think there is a version II yet.

Those are cooling vents for the amp.

Just looked through mine and saw the back wall of the cabinet. Even if they were port holes they are way too small to tune the cabinet for bass. Also rereading your post - the P3115 doesn't have a cable storage area. I think you might be talking about a different amp.

Nope, Just got it yesterday. Maybe it is a new version, I had to wait 3 weeks for it. Anyway, I used it on a wedding last night and, wasn't very impressed with it. I switched to my Roland cube 100 halfway thru the wedding, it did a way better job for me.
