I recently purchased a Cort Action V Bass brand new, and it seems like the strings aren't too exceptional. I love the feel of the bass but the strings seem to be below average. Anyone know?

Hey, just because the bass is new, it doesn't guarantee the strings are.
Strings can be dead right out of the package!
Try a set of Ti jazz flats.
