Double Bass new Pirastro Flexocor Deluxe strings

Sounds great. Can't believe they names yet another string "Flexocore" though. Won't be the first to try them, but will follow along and see what people are saying.

I was given a set to try last month. They are interesting but I don´t think they will be much competition for BCs.
They are extremely easy to play , somewhat loose. I have an english bass from 1850, dark and smooth. These strings somewhat lacked the punch I desire in an orchestral string.
That being said they have a very nice ring and are very easy under the fingers.
tonally they were nice and sweet but when I put more weight on them they sort of choked. My stand partner said he heard the difference. That he heard less of me with these strings.
I think if one has an extremely tight new instrument, I think these would be a nice fit. I dont really know what they were thinking when they designed these strings.

IU prof. bruce bransby just got a set and i got the chance to play on them. it takes a bit of time to "warm them up" but they really get a good bite and nice resonance. I only played them for a minute or so but was pretty impressed with what i got out of them.
To my ear, they're darker and more complex than Evahs. You can get a decent pizz sound out of them if you like old school thud, but they're nothing like, say, Spiros.
Old school is fine with me. How about the tension compared to evah

I've had these on my bass for six weeks and I like them a lot. I had Evahs before, Regulars first, that I love for its powerful pizz tone; then Weich, that bowed very well but at the cost (IMO) of that great pizz tone of the Regulars.
I sold the Weich because, on my bass, I found them to be too soft for heavier orchestral passages.
The Pirastro Flexocor Deluxe bow very well and have a clear (in a very good way) tone, but they also sound deep.
I have not used them with an amplifier yet, but the pizz tone is somewhere between the Weich and the Regular Evahs. I'll take them anyday over the Weich and they are much easier on the left hand than the Regulars so a no brainer for me.

Would you consider the pizz more "jazz" than a bel canto? I am looking for a good hybrid jazz/classical string for my Shen willow 3/4. I like the bow sound of the bc on my bass, but the jazz pizz is labor intensive and lacks bwwwooowww.

I currently use a Flexocor Deluxe G & D with Spiro medium A & E on my 1920's 7/8 German bass. I use this setup for both orchestra and jazz gigs (both standards and modern jazz). This combination works great for me- if I were doing exclusively jazz playing I might only use the Flex. Deluxe G and have Spiros D/A/E, but for bowing they sound great on top. I like some bite on the bottom, so for orchestra I like the 2 and 2 split.
I find that the Flex. Deluxes bow better than the Evahs, pizz better than Passiones (I have yet to try Bel Cantos but it sounds like the FD pizz is also better than BC), and makes for a great hybrid string if you add a bit of beef on the bottom end. Try them out!

I didn't like the Bels for arco any more than for pizz. They had a weird brightness that set my teeth on edge. Flex 92s suit that bass much better.
