Pretty much anything by Green Day, Rage Against the Machine, or Faith No More is somewhat beginner friendly and will help your rhythmic and melodic chops.

Billy Idol - White Wedding - very straightforward, mid-speed, good mix of notes. Nice "endurance" song.
Try some Creedence Clearwater Revival as well - I like "Have you ever seen the rain?". Good, simple, melodic, basic.

You never said what styles of music you enjoyed and
you said you are a beginner so I mentioned Still Ray by Raphael Saadiq and I'm also going to suggest
Wake Up Call by Maroon 5. Nice in the pocket rhythms on both tunes.

There are a lot of resources out there.
Grab a free copy of powertab and a trial version of GuitarPro then head on over to Invalid Link Removed. There are stacks of tabs/notation including for the bands you asked after. Many tab 'link sites' source the tabs from this site.
I like TuxGuitar instead of the Powertab/trial GuitarPro combo. TuxGuitar can read both types of tabs.
Does Tux have real instrument sounds, or are they midi-based? One thing I really really like about GP is the RSE (Realistic Sound Engine) that you can get sound packs for, and it really sounds like instruments that your playing along with/learning with, not just midi beeps. Still I'll have to check Tux out, I like the fact that it does both GP and Powertab.
If you're the torrenting type, I have seen rather huge 'collections' of GP tabs (which vary in quality, of course, just like other tabs out there) of an incredible span of artists. (They're all the same stuff that's on Ult Guitar, but bundled.) Some of the time and effort people have put into transcribing these tabs is amazing, covering all the instruments used, and (though I don't care for it) doing the vocal melodies using the instruments like sawtooth or the like.
