Yes - Drama - Chris Squire

I was listening to Yes "Drama" and specifically the song "Does It Really Happen" and couldn't figure out how Chris Squire is playing the opening lick. I know he is a pick player but i can't tell if he's using a pick or just finger picking. I can play it closer using fingers but just wondered if any Chris Squire fans had insight.

"Tempus Fugit" is another great bass song.

I think the Yes - Drama album has a lot of really clean creative bass lines and is one of the most underrated Yes albums.

I just can't get past playing with a pick. It just feels goofy to me. I feel like i lose all control over my right hand. I guess thats from playing pickless for so long.

That is a really cool bass line. Sounds like he's using a pick to me, but I don't see why it couldn't be played pizzicato, unless you're just trying to go all purist.

I'm not bad with a pick, but I'm not that comfortable with it.


Did squire lose the pick on any songs?

If I recall he is pick always, love that album too and agree 100%.

Bringing this thread back to life because I'm listening to "DIRH" even as I type.... Freaking great song, and great album.

PS. Drummer Alan White is such an under-rated drummer. I mean, really, is Bill Bruford THAT much better a drummer? Obviously, White can play his stuff, else they wouldn't have chosen him as a replacement.

Don't forget "Into The Lens", a very rhythmically interesting piece, with some excellent bass guitar & drums interplay. Not to mention some wonderful breaks by Steve Howe...

A great tune. A great album...
