Badbird replacment for Thunderbird Three point bridge.

I am considering making a Badbird for modern three point equipped Thunderbirds. The bridge would be two piece with a 60's style tail piece. The small screw hole would be filled by a low profile screw that could be painted to match. The bridge will be a little wider than the one pictured. Any interest out there my Thunderbird bretheren?

I did a test installation this AM on My 2001 Thunderbird aka "The Butcherbird" While intonation is not perfect it is aweful close. I won't have to make the bridge much wider.

I had to order metric studs (M8 thread)even though this is a USA bird. The Badbird has a much thinner profile than a three point. I always felt the threepoint on new Birds stuck out like a oil rig on the ocean, the profile was way to high for my liking. Action is super low.

Everyone has a preference. Looking good scott, You should look into the five string bird market too. I'm sticking with the classic 3 point

Going back and forth finalizing drawings, Hopefully I'll have a sample soon. Five string version? The relatively low percentage of five string birds out there doesn't make this worth while for me.

The idea would be to create more 5 strings. I'd pay for a one-off bridge to convert a Gibson IV to a V as a prototype.

This would be of concern for me, if I was to buy one. I like having my intonation spot on. Intonation would likely be thrown further out by my tendency to use heavier gauge strings and have a slightly higher action than most.

Intonation will be perfect. The bridge pictured is the Badbird for 60's Thunderbirds and is a test installation. The Badbird II will be wider and have more travel so intonation will be spot on.

I do like the stock three point Gibbo bridge to an extent. I have one of the Hipshot bridges (on a Epi Classic IV)and while I like the way it works, I don't really care for how it looks; it's pretty massive (in looks, not weight). I haven't used one of the new Babicz three point bridges (I'm sure it works great) but again it is pretty fugly (IMHO).

I like what you've done already with the BadBird... Bring it on Dude.

I might be a little late to the game here...do you still make this or the Badbird II and do they fit a 2001 Gibson Thunderbird? I LOVE the way they look and can't bring myself to use a hipshot. IMO the hipshot takes away from the aesthetics of the T-Birds a bit. Thanks!

Yes it will definitely fit a 2001 Thunderbird. The Badbird II is out of production at the moment. I may have a few lying around. Here it is installed on my 2001 highly modified 2001
