How often does your bass go out of tune?

Usually if I play a lot i need to re tune my bass more often but im curious how often you guys need to re tune your basses.

i play almost everyday on my squiers and i check the tuning like once a week but i swear they stay in tune for months sometimes

Usually every month and its always very minor adjustments. I play at least 4 hours a week and use a gig bag for storage.

Mabe somethings wrong with my tuning pegs... I usually need to re tune mine every couple days

....but than again i use one of those tuners with red and green dot's that light up so you haved to be precise or else it says its too sharp or too flat.

Every time I take a drive with it. A 10 minute drive from my home to church (where I play) the A and E strings get detuned, A almost goes down to a G#. My G D and B strings usually stay perfectly fine 0_o

If I just leave it at home I only have to tune it maybe once a week.

I check my bass everytime I play it. I play-practice 2 to 3 hours a day. Never go's out of tune

I use a Patterson Strobe tuner every time I strap my bass on. Mostly it's minor adjustments.

funny, that happens to my bass too, every time it goes out for a ride. the pegs must get bumped up or something

Depends on how aggressive I am, or what weather/climate conditions they are exposed to.

If I'm slapping alot, it needs tuned more. Aggressive pick style, it needs tuned more. Fingerstyle, most of my basses stay close to in tune for a couple of weeks at least.

Subtle temperature variations (+/- 10 degrees or so) will also knock them out.

My Peavey Cirrus USA 5? Almost never loses tuning, regardless of style or climate. It's unbelievable.

My Aria Pro II stay in tune for remarkable periods of time...like months.

...just another reason why I love it so much.

I check the Warwick, usually but find it's only a hair off...its not bad at all...the Squier tho, pain in the butt!
And it is pretty warm in this room.....

I check every gig since the E tuning key tends to get bumped straight in the gig bag. The other three tuners are ok.

Same here. I keep an £80 precision copy at college, only sees the light of day twice a week for a half hour or so. Don't normally have to tune up, but there's the odd time it's been bumped in the bag in the cupboard. My bass at home, usually always in tune. If for whatever reason the case is moved (no room for another stand (not the best fitting case)) then a quick tune up may be required. But that's it.

My guitar though.. Stupid locking nuts. To be fair, I haven't re-tuned the guitar since April after new strings/setup. Maybe a slight adjustment or two with the fine tuners, but the nuts have been firmly locked since. However, that's £200 I could have put towards something useful.

If it stays in the same air conditioned room, it will stay in tune for a month. If I walk across campus in 90 degree weather, I will need to retune.

My Warwicks hardly ever go out of tune. I check them often before I play at church just to make sure using a Korg Rackmount Tuner. I have always used either Warwick Black Label strings or some type of DR string.
BUT, recently I got a good deal on some brand new Elixir strings. I tried them and noticed not only do I not like the sound compared to either DR or Warwick strings, but they also are out of tune within a couple of days.
Same gauge; same bass; same setup. Any ideas on why these go out of tune (maybe just a bad set or has anyone else had this problem)?
