Worn Maple vs. Rosewood

What do you prefer the look of worn in? A maple fingerboard or rosewood fingerboard?

When I say worn in, I mean discoloured and some "funk" build up.

Rosewood. Worn in maple always looks gross, as though it was dunked in a grease vat at Sonic.

Out of the limited worn basses I've seen, I'd have to go Rosewood.

I've read some superficial polls before but this may be the worst since the fretboard effects the tone of your instrument, you should not choose it based on looks.

Worn maple is sexy. I prefer the way maple looks and feels.

As far as sound, I believe there's things much more significant than fingerboard material, and don't consider buying basses of one board or another. Just whether the whole bass sounds and feels great.

I would agree that it is one componenent of the overall sound but it is a component and for that reason choosing between equal basses with a choice of fingerboard is much more then just looks. At least that's how I hear it.
