Autolux's Crazy Effects

I've been looking around for information on the effects that Autolux uses, more specifically on Eugene's sound.

For those of you who don't know Autolux, they're a trio from Los Angeles that uses more effects than you can count. Their sound can be likened to Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine, but they're very much their own. Both the bassist and guitarist use all sorts of distortion, fuzz, beeps, clicks, woos, wees, and whammies (just to name a few) harmoniously to create some really fun, uppy and trippy music. The most comprehensive list I was able to find was a Link Removed on Harmony Central, but most of the info over there was on Greg's pedal board (The guitarist).

unknown rackmounted pedals... people have asked eugene in the past and his reply has always been "we have a bunch of custom pedals built for us" or whatever.. so a lot less known about him

Anyways, there's not enough info out there about these guys, they're pretty innovative with their effects, especially with how much the bassist uses them, so I felt they deserved a thread here.

I guess for starters, any info on how to achieve Eugene's softly distorted bass tone on songs like Sub-Zero Fun?

I saw Autolux a couple of months ago at the Glass House in Pomona. I love their music, and they put on a really good show. I tried to take a good look at Eugene's setup, but his rack is filled with a pile of pedals (literally) and I couldn't identify a thing. Eugene and Greg both use switching systems (Rocktron All-Access) and have most of their pedals located in their racks.

I was right up front at that concert and also had trouble seeing specifics, wonder if we ran into each other. They played an amazing show at the Natural History Museum last week as well, they didn't play a single song from their record and it seemed like they were testing out new methods and sounds. Eugene opened up on a violin rigged up with all sorts of synths.

Autolux is a fantasic example of why effects are absolutely a valid part of a bass player's tools.

That's the warm, distorted sound I'm looking for, although I'm running through a Bass PodXTL so it would probably be difficult getting anything close with only that board. I'm glad there are some people interested in this though.
