Info by photo. Help with Ibanez Soundgear, please.

Going to buy used Ibanez Soundgear. Ebay seller gives only name and photo. Can you assume exact model, wood types & thoughts about this bass? Here is photo:

Also, is $300 good price for this bass + used hardshell case? Thanks for any help.

[DEL]Figure the case at about $100.00 new, minus wear and tear might make it worth $75.00 by itself. So the bass is then $225.00.

It's not an active; it's a J/P clone and it looks like the [This invalid link has been removed], which isn't that valuable.

If you bought one new, they cost $199.99, but I don't see that the particular wood/color is currently available now.

Without some real ID'ing of it, this is only a pretty fair guess though.

Don't forget the shipping costs for a used guitar and case too!

<edit> It MIGHT be a Invalid Link Removed, which would raise the pot a little to about $250.00 for a new one, but again it's not new.

The bass is good, but the deal kinda is one-sided I think.

If someone else knows the exact version of this bass, please chime in.[/DEL]

Thats not a Gio. Its an ibanez sr400. I have one exactly like that with the p/j pickup config. Its a mid '90s model. '96 i beleive. $300 would be a fair price for the bass. To find more info i would suggest searchin ibanez sr400 or just sr400

I Googled it and never suspect it to be a SR400.

Thanks - but again it's a used bass + shipping, so I don't think it's all that good of a deal. Besides, it looks kinda funky. dirty and if I couldn't play it and fondle it first, I wouldn't buy anything over the internet anyway.

That's just me though. Your results may certainly vary (for good or bad)

It's not worth $300. I bought a half dozen SR800's from '06 to '09, and and paid between $175 and $269 for each. 800's are a lot nicer than 400's. I still don't think that bass is a 400, as mostnonstopbass is wrong, it's not a 400. From '93 thru '95, 400's were passive (3 knobs). From '96 on, 400's had a 3 band eq (5 knobs). All 400's black hardware. The bass in question is probably a 380. In any event, it's not worth $300.

I got one from 1989, a sr900LE (low impedance) for pretty cheap with a case
All near mint.
Seems that people underestimate these basses..
They are so great, so perfect, and made in japan!

it looks like one from the end of the 90's
i suspect it's made in korea or somewhere else.

I can see it due to the bad quality wood and hardware and pickups.

Really: Ibanez: start of company from 50's to early 90's, those were the golden years

I haven't really found any Ibanez to be bad quality - but I've never had one that wasn't intended to be sold in the US either.

Mostly, Ibanez is a very solid and dependable bass guitar, slim and very 'lute-like' for feel. They are so well balanced they feel delicate, but they are far from that.

I love my SR500, and it was my first re-entry bass after 47 years of not playing and I was very amazed that basses had come this far.

OK - maybe I was living under a rock all that time, but just the same, the pure beauty and playability of it just caused me to play it 24/7 for the first few months.

I cannot offer more of an incentive to you since it is a bass that just demands attention for it's feel, sleekness and pure joy of playing. You want to caress it constantly and that gets you to play it more.

Sincerely - very sincerely, I recommend getting a new one for pride of ownership and the vary fact that it was 'born' in your hands as a music maker. It will be your best friend after the appropriate relatives, marriage mate and children. <dabbing away a man-tear>

I betcha! You betchum!
