Finally finished my Jazz

I took this bass in trade seveal months ago. It's a '99 MIM Jazz and it was some aweful red color. Anyway, I refinished it to Fender Blonde (50-75% opacity) and a clear nitro lacquer finish, added some '62 RI pickups and pots, a Badass II, and a tort pickguard. Last weekend I put on a MightyMite fretless neck. It sounds wonderful (especially through my portaflex).
This was my first attempt at anything like this. I have to say that it was very labor intensive-- but totally rewarding.

good looking bass! What is your take on the feel and performance of the Ebanol fingerboard...

Thanks!

I think it's a bit brighter than ebony or rosewood, but it still sounds great. I've only played it at one rehearsal, but will know more after this weekend. I'll be using it on 2 different jobs. So far, though, the band really digs it. They said it was sexier than my Casady!

Great looking bass! Have you ever tried an Ebony fretless board to compare to the Ebonal board? What is Ebonal made out of, anyway?

I might recommend one of those wooden pickguards that can be bought on Ebay. A guy was trying to sell a fretless on here a while back that had a killer looking dark-stained wooden pickguard. It looked incredible with the unlined fretboard.
