This is a beautiful, great sounding fretless 5-string with "Mwah" for days! This is a Brice Douglas and I removed the original headstock logo because I wanted to give it my own. The logo was a rub-on and I applied several coats of spray urethane on top of it to seal it. I have plenty of experience in doing this sort of thing, so it looks quite good, even up close.
I purchased this a few years ago from a TBer and I have since made numerous mods, including:
- US-made Bartolini pickups
- Hipshot Tuners and string tree
- Straplocks
- Wood control plate cover and knobs (I also have a black control plate and black knobs if you prefer)
- Shielded cavity and pickguard
- Replacement black neck plate
- Replacement bridge to match the rest of the black hardware
This bass is in excellent condition - the only issue being a scratchy pickguard, but these stock pickguards are known for being "soft", so that's no surprise. No big deal, though). The maple fretboard is protected by a super-tough finish and there are no wear issues with it - plus, I've only used flatwounds so as to further protect the fretboard.
As you can see, it's a beautiful bass, but it plays and sounds fantastic as well! The "mwah" sound is amazing and it is quite versatile, tonally.
I'll sell it outright for $300.00 + shipping or I'll trade (plus cash on my end) for a nice, fretted 4-string. I'm attempting to thin the herd a bit by reducing some of my more "redundant" basses, so I'm pretty particular about what I'd trade for.
I'm looking for a 2-pickup 4-banger (2 soaps, 2 jazz or a jazz/P combo) and I would prefer either a Warwick (no Rockbasses, please), a Spector (Legend or better. Not interested in a Q series or performer) or an older, JAPANESE-built Tune, like a Bass Maniac. Feel free to float offers of similar basses my way. I already have a fretted J-bass, so I'm not looking for one of those, just for reference.
I'll include a Warwick gig bag.
