The Precision bass neck is a bit wider than the Jazz neck. All of Jaco's basses had Jazz necks. He used a Jazz bass in an instructional video he did that had a Precision neck with a maple fingerboard. The bass was not his.

Jazz neck is 1.5 inches at the nut ("A" size). Until about 1972, Precision necks were 1.75 at the nut ("C"), but since then they've been 1.625 (1 3/8, "B"), except obviously the reissues of pre-1973 Precisions have the C size.
Although (in the 70's at least) Precisions could be purchased with the "A" width option...that's what my '78 has....
