Thunderfunk users switch poll

Just curious and I didn't see this come up in a search.

For all of my fellow TF users: Which position of "the switch" do you use most often?

Depends on what I'm playing, really... but my "default" position is tube.

I think another appropriate option would have been "depends on the band". In my classic rock cover band I always used the tube setting but for just about everything else I kept it in SS mode.

I just got mine, I leave it in the default 'tube' position but then again, mine doesn't 'pop' when I change the switch position. I don't know yet if it is working.

I'd hazard a guess that means that he doesn't have a post switch thunderfunk. ie: a TFB 420 or something similar.

I very rarely use my 'funk in anything but the tube emulation mode. I like what that setting does for the tone but I've never really thought of it as terribly "tubey". At least to my ear that is.

Depends on my bass. My Conklin can be pretty sterile with its Korean electronics, so I use the tube emulation to fatten it up.

Interestingly enough I really don't hear all that much difference with my Warwick as compared to the change I hear with my Conklin. So sometimes I'll just forget to switch back and not notice.

At the moment with the gigs i'm doing and the speakers i have i use the 'orginal' Tube position. But when i get some clearer speaker cabinets i'll experiment more with the SS position.

I voted "depends", but for me, it's not about the song, it's about the venue. Dave will be the first to tell you it's not something designed to be switched a lot during a gig, which is why he's not worried about fixing the "pop" it makes when you switch it with the amp turned up. However, I do find different settings work better for different rooms. That and the Timbre knob, IMHO, are your best friends on this amp.

While I much prefer the tube setting, I've found plenty of rooms where the SS position was more appropriate. I'm with Vic on this one.

Yeah, I probably should have left option 3 as just "depends" but anyone can treat it that way.

Seems like the "tube" setting is the hands-down winner so far

I do admit I use the "Tube" setting more often than the SS.

I would set the switch to the "ON" position. :eyebrow:

I don't have a TF but I would probably switch back and forth depending on the song or my mood. I briefly tried out a TF and was pretty impressed with the tube like tone.
